What’s in my birth doula bag?

The list - with links! You can view my whole Amazon list here.

The bag itself: A sturdy, heavy canvas bag. I had a patch with my logo custom embroidered and attached that to the front!

Inside:

  • Receiving blankets + baby hat - on the off chance that baby is born quicker than expected

  • Bach Rescue Remedy - a pick-me-up for me for longer labors

  • LED votives, for ambiance

  • Lotion - I make sure all my lotions are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, just in case

  • Essential oils - Can add to lotion or use on a cotton pad and wave under nose

  • First aid kit - All the basics, good to have just in case

  • Nut butter + honey sticks - good energizing snacks to have on hand

  • Scissors - you never know when you’ll need a pair of scissors, at the very least for the honey sticks!

  • Liquid IV - a lifesaver for me, the birthing person, their partner, and whoever else needs it!

  • Massage roller - handy little roller that fits in the bag

  • Nitrile gloves - always good to have on hand (ha!)

  • Knee pads - especially for home births or water births where I spend a lot of time on the ground, these save my knees!

  • Alcohol pads - Good for cleanup or to quickly stop nausea (open the pad and wave under nose)

  • Portable fan - Super handy to have

  • Rebozo - for extra support

  • The Labor Progress Handbook - good reference to have

  • Colgate Wisps - for a birthing person who’s been sick during labor, offer a Wisp and some water to wash the taste out

  • Massage balls - great for counterpressure or just to have something to squeeze

  • Yoga pants, extra shirt, hospital socks, and headbands - change of clothes for me, just in case!

  • Toiletry bag - details below!
